A central processing unit (CPU) also called a  " Central Processor or Main Processor " is the electronic circuitry within a computer that carrie the ins 
out the instrucations of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic logic controlling and , Input/Output . (I/O) operations spesified
by the  instrucations the computer industry has used the term central processing unit At least since the early 1960s . traditionally the trem "CPU"
refers to a processor more specifically to its processing unit and control unit (CU) distinguishing these core elements of a computer from extrnal 
components such as main memory and I/O circuitry..

The CPU  has Two Components : 

(1) Control Unit: extracts  instrucations memory and decodes and executes them

(2) Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU): handles  Arithmetic and logical operations

the CPU contains internal memory units which are called registers these register contain data instructions counters and addresses used in the (ALU,s)
